Less than week to go are we ready!!! and we going to do it hell yeah!!!!

Along with many of the sponsers involed one is Lavacore 'exposure over jacket, and let me say it fits like a glove and keeps you cool kitting up but mostt important it keeps me warm on all my dive from 10 min to well lets say i havet got cold yet wearing it!!!!lol

O'three dry suit will be use again along with the O'three HUV which i still think is the best thing in the world!!!!along with the APV which with out would make the dive alot harder!!

As for the main Sponser Hollis/ Salpa sub Malta for the Hollis SMS100 wing it is the most comfortable wing even out of the water wearing cylinders that i have tried to date, as for the regulators great breath in any position

Along with special thanks to all the team at Watercolours diving center Sliema  for there support during the record and all the safety divers involved.

Safety diver meeting...

Big thanks to every one that turned up last night at the meeting i know their was lots of people watching and asking questions and the biggest question was 'Can i try it on??' or 'how do you eat' well most of you now know!!!!!!

As for the kit itself the hollis sms100 was the most sought after item i had its light and all round wing side mount built but will take twin set as well as standard single back mount.
As the next 10 days approach to the record we will see more training now.....

Some of the safety team were really happy to try on the wing and see how good and light it was compared to other wings on the market.
After  the meeting every one headed to the bar for drinks and to party as after tonight its only air and more air i will be drinking till the 27th were Nordic will be holding the world record party!!!!!!wow
Jimmy Hansson the bar owner trying on the kit for the 1st time and he was impressed as a non diver(till now)Once again thanks to Nordic+ for holding the meeting and orginizing the party and  Hollis and Salpa sub for the dive kit for this next big record!!!!

16 DAYS TO GO

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in this record from my sponsors to my safety divers who will be looking after my well being during this record. I would also like to say big thanks to Jason Fabri for his support in the past and present along with his team from Water Colours Diving Center, Would also like to say big thanks to Mike Tabone  and the Nordic+ bar Team, Paceville for helping back the event along with celebration party , The event is to also raise money for the Psoriasis Association, this can also be done by going to the web page (www.seanmcgahern.co.uk), were their is a  link for just giving.

The aim of this record is to break the warm water open sea scuba dive that stands at 51 hours and 10minutes. The dive depth will be approx 11 meters, our dive time aim is 55 hours, due to  the time spent in the water, all deco times have been calculated at a depth 13 meters, Deco plans will be attached, feel free to comment on anything you are not sure about, all deco plans run from 3 hours into the dive with plans every 1 hour 30 min, should the dive be cancelled for any reason the next deco plan will be used always round up not down....
All divers and safety teams involved in the event will get a certificate to verify involvement that will be counter signed by Water Colours Diving and myself, we will also have safety diver tracking sheet that will be sent to GWR so please bring your dive card on the day, and we will have emergency contact list with next of kin. Unless you are deco trained do not enter deco we are not responsible for you dive times, but we will be keeping a check on diver in-out times.

We are planning, weather permitting, to start the dive at midnight on the 24th sept. to complete the 55 hour dive with deco we will have total dive time of 57 hours 25 min (3450 min). I will be using a side mount configuration so I will be able to change out of cylinders more easily than changing over a full twin set, however there will be a twin set configuration on the dive base as a final bail out should it be needed, I estimate to use approx 52 cylinders plus twin set (back-up), gasses air (21%), 50%O2, 100%O2.

All safety divers to wear their standard dive kit, if diving at night please have at least 2 torches. Two safety divers  must remain with me at all times, unless on change over, Land to dive base will have 2 lines running 1 along the surface attached to a buoy, then down to dive base the other line will follow the contour on the sea floor. Should you be running out of bottom time there will be an underwater CCTV being constantly be monitored and recorded for safety and for later training, you will only need to notify the surface from the camera 10 min in advance to ensure the next team will be ready to enter the water, the surface team will be watching your dive time so at least 10min before the end of your dive the next team will be ready to enter, we are asking the dive teams to have a dive time of 45 min each as min dive time, each team will bring with them a side stage for me during the event this will normally be 10ltr air(21%), as I finish with the cylinders they can then be taken back to the surface for refilling, along with all the safety and back up cylinders the deco cylinders of 50% and 100% O2 will be brought down to the dive base ready, so when the dive is finished and we start moving away from the sea bed we would have no cylinders to chase around the sea bed as I am sure after 57 hours at 11-12 meters  everyone will be cold and tiered from the event, so let’s keep it SIMPLE and I am sure we will come out on Top.
Thanks to everyone in advance....
